Monday Mani: Sally Hansen Spark

Hope everyone had a great first week of 2011! It's going by so quickly, huh?

Well, I had a sleepover this weekend and of course we did our nails--- blurple! Sally Hansen's Spark doesn't quite live up to its name, but the way it morphs between midnight navy blue and eggplant purple is interesting to say the least. The quality is very nice and I only needed two coats. It actually is supposed to be a purple base with blue and purple shimmer, but it ends up darker than the bottle and more of a plum color IRL. Monday Mani: 212-Sephora

First post of the new year! Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and is looking forward to the new year ahead. Can you believe it's been so long since I got into nail polish? I blame my mom~~ after all, she did get me a Wet n Wild set last Christmas. Oh well! Not like I'm complaining! In just a year, I've stocked up at least 100 shades, maybe more.

Well, let's start the new year...with 212-Sephora of Sephora by OPI! (I believe it's come back for a limited time. Originally it was released in Times Square only.) This is a pretty funky color. Smoky black base with loads of glitter, holo, and flakies! It looks like nebulae on your fingertips!

The formula is pretty thin, so I had to use three coats, but the layering effect of all the glitters worked nicely because of it. Also, no topcoat~ so it's not as smooth as it would have been if I had used a topcoat. So...use a topcoat.

Monday Man: NYC Plaza Plumberry

I think I took a 180 with this one. Remember last week's skittle? Yeah, this is the opposite. Dark, rich, gothic, fall... I feel older -__-;;

NYC Plaza Plumberry is a cheap thrill I never got around to wearing, but it reminds me a lot of Rimmel's Purple Rain. Get this one though, it's only a dollar! Plus, quality is good and it applies nicely. Took three coats to get even coverage. {Don't mind the bad paint job; I had to make this quick so I could study for exams T^T}

Monday Mani: SHINee skittle!

Yes, this post is about K-Pop. And, yes, I know how crazy I am...

But even if you don't know of or like the South Korean boy band SHINee, a bright skittle is refreshing after all the dark, fall mani's I've been wearing. I welcomed it gladly. So, I found out each member's favorite color (according to MYShawols), which may or may not be correct~~ but who cares!! To me, each member has the same, shining spirit as these bright nail polishes.

Monday Mani: Color Club Snakeskin

I am so disappointed with CC as of late. The last two polishes I bought from them were so tantalizing in the bottle but were duds IRL. I mean look at Snakeskin! It looks like it's going to be amazing!

 

But alas, it wasn't so. Much like Ms. Haute, this is a graphite gray frost (which means streaks and I think the whole look is childish). Even worse, the green/yellow glitter that drew me in, which I hoped would make a devious olive when combined, completely disappeared IRL!!! Total disappointment.

The formula was annoying, and it's very hard to get a solid coat without streaks. If you try to add a third coat to fix it, the polish bumps easily. I had to cover half of it with Rimmel Black Satin. The overall look is still so messy. I've been changing my nail polish every week for the past year, so it can't be my technique!

Nice try Color Club...I'm going to have to stop impulse buying your stuff now. UGH I can't wait to take this off and wear OPI Simmer & Shimmer!!!!!!! ***cough Absolutely Alice cough***
